Remember Who You Are

Daily drama, trials, temptations, and stresses seem to suck the life out of me. I often feel defeated and even without purpose, yet that is not how God sees me. It is so easy to feel unloved, unimportant, unwanted, and forgotten.

It is not so.

Because I place my faith in the Lord alone and what He has done for me, I can rest assured that in His eyes I am more. Some may find this arrogant, but I see it as trusting what He says. I see it as claiming His Word and His promises. The following are verses that remind His children of who we are in Him.

But when the appropriate time had come, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we may be adopted as sons with full rights. And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, who calls “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are a son, then you are also an heir through God.
Galatians 4:4-7

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.”The Spirit himself bears witness to  our spirit that we are God’s children.
 Romans 8:14-16

I am not just accepted by God, but His own child. I am adopted. He chose me. He accepted me. The almighty God of the universe is daddy.

Precious.
But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness. Moreover if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you.
Romans 8:10-11
I am alive...spiritually.

And when you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation) –when you believed in Christ you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, who is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 1:13-14

I am sealed. It is finished on my behalf. Payed in full.
Freedom..........

As he also says in Hosea:
“I will call those who were not my people,
‘My and I will call her who was unloved, ‘My beloved.’”
“And in the very place where it was said to them
‘You are not my people,’there they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’”
Romans 9:25-26
I am God's beloved.
For it was fitting for him, for whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory,to make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For indeed he who makes holy and those being made holy all have the same origin, and so he is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters, saying, “I will proclaim your name to my brothers; in the midst of the assembly I will praise you.” Again he says, “I will be confident in him,” and again, “Here I am, with the children God has given me.”
Hebrews 2:10-13

Jesus himself calls me a sister. So undeserved and unbelievably wonderful!

So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away – look, what is new has come! And all these things are from God who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation. In other words, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting people’s trespasses against them, and he has given us the message of reconciliation. Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His plea through us. We plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God!” God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we would become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Let that sink in heart. Let the truth of being made new become my identity. Forget the past and all that it comes with. Forget the lies and deception that I am still that person. The Lord has made me new! No longer am I stuck in the past sins I have committed. The guilt of those things has no power. No, I am righteous in His eyes. Now I can continue in that righteousness. This truth compels me to live for Him out of thankfulness and love to my wonderful Savior and Father.

So as you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but chosen and priceless in God’s sight, you yourselves, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood and to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:4-5

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may
proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. You once were not a people, but now you are God’s people. You were shown no mercy, but now you have received mercy.
1 Peter 2:9-10
I am chosen. I have value...priceless. I am accepted because of Jesus. I am God's chosen child.  God has given me mercy!

But “when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared, he saved us not by works of righteousness that we have done but on the basis of his mercy, through the washing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us in full measure through Jesus Christ our Savior. And so, since we have been justified by his grace, we become heirs with the confident expectation of eternal life.”
Titus 3:4-7

I have new birth. I am born again through Christ. I have His life!

Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth, for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:1-3
I am hidden in Christ. Oh what an amazing truth. Hidden...in Christ!

This list is not complete. You are so many things in the Lord. The truth of the matter is that we are accepted before God. There is no more condemnation. We are loved, beloved, children of God. When the flaming arrows come and try to steal the joy that is already ours, then these are the promises to cling to. It is time to extinguish those accusations and let the truth shine ever brighter in our hearts. Praise be to God.
